Mpofu -The EFF won't disrupt SONA, but President Ramaphosa will

The Economic Freedom Fighters are adamant that they will not be the cause of a disruption, but the President might be. Dali Mpofu says the party cannot be held responsible for their actions should Ramaphosa not adhere to their demands.

The Economic Freedom Fighters say Ramaphosa knows what he has to do to ensure a smooth State of the Nation Address.

Advocate Dali Mpofu says his party cannot be blamed for how they react during the event, should President Cyril Ramaphosa ignore the party's calls for him to address his BOSASA 'donation'.

According to The Citizen, this comes in response to Baleka Mbete ( National Assembly speaker) and Thandi Modise ( National Council of Provinces Chair) saying that no 'extraordinary measures' have been put into place and that no disruptions are expected.

Briefly.co.za reported earlier that the EFF is calling for the event, due to take place next week, to be turned into a Q & A session, should Ramaphosa not address the matter before going to Parliament.

Baleka Mbete confirmed yesterday that no one had contacted her to make any arrangements, including the EFF.

Mpofu, chair for the EFF, said earlier today that any disruptions that occur should be blamed on Ramaphosa:

“Ramaphosa will be the one disrupting the Sona because we cannot sit when we have a president who has lied. We cannot be addressed by someone on serious matters of the state when he has committed an impeachable offense. So, if Ramaphosa continues without addressing the Bosasa matter, he will be the one disrupting the Sona.”

The chairman went on to discuss the media's intention to 'paint us as all the corrupt parties'. He has the EFF has requested the media to prove the alleged corruption, but no one has come forward.

The Advocate felt that critics of the party suffered a tremendous blow when Angelo Agrizzi failed to implicate the EFF in his testimony:

“There is a feeling of dejection among our detractors because in all the major scandals – be it Nkandla, Guptas, state capture – EFF and the leadership is not involved in any of them. So there is a deliberate smear campaign on the EFF.”
