Man gives up on crush of five years after she called him her cousin

After pursuing his crush for almost five years, a South African man has finally given up, that is, after she said that he is like a close cousin to her.

Thangana Krila says his crush has previously called him platonic but loving names, but none quite so familial as her cousin.

Unwilling to continue chasing after someone who is clearly not interested in him as more than just a close friend, Thangana says he is now stopping all forms of communication with her, in an effort to move on. He has blocked her on social media too, Breifly.co.za learned.

The heartbroken man shared his disappoint on social media, which found it hilarious that he had been ‘family-zoned’.

Twitter users expressed sympathy for the man, saying that hiss tory sounds painful. Many were shocked that he had been interested in her for as long as five years, believing that something should happened by now, to move him in the right direction.

One user, Jerry Khoza said that Thangana deserves better and that one day, he’ll mmet the right person.

Kat Ngwepe joked that maybe being cousins wasn’t a death sentence to Thangana’s future relationship, hinting that sometimes cousins date each other.
