Parents and children got together shortly after the tragic events at Hoërskool Driehoek in Vanderbijlpark to pray for each other and the victims and their families.
The event left the children not involved in shock, and a pastor took it upon himself to lead them in passionate prayer.
A snap of the emotional prayer circle at the site of the accident was shared on social media, and paints a picture of broken people trying to understand the loss suffered.
On Friday, the 1st of February, a walkway collapsed at the school, claiming the lives of 3 students. Briefly.co.za reported that 5 learners were critically injured, 14 had suffered “moderate” injuries and two were treated for minor afflictions.
The prayer by the unknown pastor proves that care for each other does still exist in South Africa. It's unclear whether he has any children that attend the school, but his compassion has touched many.
Photos of more prayer circles have also been shared on social media, reflecting the empathy that South Africans still feel for each other.
Once of the children who didn't survive the accident was Roydon Olckers, a 17-year-old described as a beautiful child of God.
