History post: Remembering the Lily Mine tragedy 3 years later

Tributes are pouring in for the 3 workers who have yet to be recovered from Lily Mine after it's collapse three years ago. South Africa took to social media to honor their memory.

Today marks 3 years since the tragedy at Lily Mine in Baberton, Mpumalanga. 100 mineworkers sustained injury and three were trapped underground when the mine suddenly collapsed.

The bodies of Pretty Nkambule, Yvonne Mnisi and Solomon Nyarenda have never been retrieved.

The container they had been in at the time of the accident had fallen into the sinkhole that had formed.

Following the incident, the mine had gone into business rescue. Although three years have passed, it is still fresh on the minds of South Africans, who took to social media to commemorate the day:
