Video footage of armed robbery and attempted hijacking goes viral

Another video of a brazen robbery and attempted hijacking was caught on video - and, it had South Africans fuming.

On Tuesday, Intelligence Bureau SA shared a video of an attempted hijacking and armed robbery in Johannesburg.

Briefly.co.za gathered the video was taken on the Middle road in Morningside, Sandton. The footage shows an armed thug taking a handbag before getting into the getaway car, which has been identified as a white Volkswagen Polo.

South Africans were enraged over the brazen attempted hijack and robbery in broad daylight and some called for drastic measures to be taken.

Louis Malema commented: "I think everyone who owns a car should also own a gun...infact it should be a package...'Buy the latest polo vivo model n get a Glock Pistol free for only R3500/pm'"
Mbaita Mulela added: "Is there any brave people left in SA? Robbery around that time and nobody cares,even allowing the criminals to drive away.What has made your criminals so fearless and brave? I bet they even steal near a police station.If thieves are armed to the teeth,arm yourselves too."
Ryan Bloem wrote, "So if I was in the car behind the vehicle being hijacked and I decided to knock the hijacker what are the legal repercussions for me?"
