Kind Samaritan goes extra mile to assist man and son on road

- A young man was stuck on the road with his son desperately waving to motorists for help

- A stranger stopped, made some calls, assisted him and even gave his child a yogurt

- Their encounter was shared via social media and has attracted a staggering 3 000 comments from impressed South Africans

Vuyo MakaAssah Mqotyana found himself in an awkward situation as he was stranded on the road with his son with him.

He desperately tried to get fellow motorists to stop and assist but many passed him by.

Eventually, one man stopped and went out of his way to provide assistance.

The Good Samaritan realised he didn’t have jumper cables to assist so made a call to a friend to borrow a set.

He continued to help until the car was started.

Mqotyana then also revealed that the stranger heard his son complaining about being hungry.

The kind Samaritan then offered up his sealed tub of yoghurt as well.

Mqotyana was so moved by the man’s generosity that he took to Facebook to pen his thoughts.

He declared that racism is becoming a thing of the past – it was not the first time that a white man assisted him when he was stranded.

Briefly.co.za noted the viral response the post received as more than 3 000 comments were added by Facebook users.

Lizette Van Der Voort said: “We are all the same and should start prosecuting people who spread racial hatred against our country's people... they should be jailed!! Lovely story.”

Lynette Cronje Beukes said, “Only the politicians that create racism. Our working class people get on well and help one another where we can.”
Siyabonga B Dlamini said in jest: “Lol his softening you up, he wants 2 keep the land. No guys I'm playing this is good....if we all can help each like this our country will be rebuilt.”
