Viral video shows R3 million Audi R8 chasing Volkswagen Caddy

A video has gone viral on social media which showed an Audi R8 struggling to keep up with a Volkswagen Caddy.

On Thursday, a video resurfaced on social media which allegedly showed an Audi R8, which costs about R3 million depending on the model, struggling to keep up with a much cheaper Volkswagen Caddy.

The video was posted on Facebook by South Africa Live, along with the caption: "No matter what you drive there's always a old VW faster than you... Audi R8 chasing a Caddy bakkie somewhere in SA."

The video is taken from inside the Audi R8 and the driver is heard saying the Caddy reached speeds of 250km/h to 260km/h - which we want to point out is way above the lawful speed on highways.

Briefly.co.za gathered the footage left social media users shook and although many praised the Volkswagen bakkie for beating a super car, others pointed out how dangerous the situation was.

Krishen Chotoo commented: "Racing on a public road all clapping till things go wrong."

Simon Marais added, "What reckless people doing this on public roads. Putting regular drivers at such a risk.."

Thabiso Guma wrote: "Illegal racing on our South African roads wow."
