The Limpopo SAPS are currently on a manhunt for 6 criminals who managed to escape Letsitele prison, located just outside of Tzaneen, Limpopo.
On top of trying to locate the prisoners, the police are also trying to find out how the criminals managed to escape in the first place.
Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said that they were not sure about the “how,” when it came to the incident.
According to eNCA, so far the Limpopo SAPS have figured out that the criminals managed to escape during mealtime.
Briefly.co.za noted that his story follows a similar incident that occurred earlier this month, where a group of prisoners disappeared from the South Gauteng Court.
eNCA reported that, although the SAPS could not determine exactly how many prisoners had escaped earlier this month, it was confirmed that two of the missing criminals were on charges of murder.
