A new report claims that the Gupta family is planning another lavish wedding.

The event, a double wedding celebrating the marriages of Rajesh Gupta's daughter and Atul Gupta's son, will reportedly cost R100 million.

This according to a nine-page wedding invitation for the function, which is set to take place in Abu Dhabi later this month at the Emirates Palace Hotel.

This is not the first time the Guptas have grabbed headlines over an expensive event. In 2013, they received much criticism after the family held a wedding in Sun City, to which 100 guests were flown via Waterkloof airforce base.

The move was seen by many as former president Jacob Zuma essentially auctioning off his powers as president to the wealthy family.

However, the upcoming R100 million wedding is actually a relatively modest affair for the Guptas. Ajay Gupta's son Kamal got married in 2016, and his wedding reportedly cost over R150 million, according to The Citizen. For that function, though, the Guptas had to forego Sun City and instead hosted the wedding in Turkey.

This was soon after they fled South Africa, following mounting accusations of their involvement in extensive corruption and state capture.

Nevertheless, the wedding invitation listed the Guptas' residential address as Johannesburg.

It appears it may be some time before the family returns to their South African property, however, as they continue to refuse to appear before the Zondo Commission or account for the allegations against them.
