Khaya Dladla humbled by SAFTA nomination: fans congratulate and root for him

Actor and TV presenter, Khaya Dladla has earned himself a nomination as Best Supporting Actor for a TV Soap in the 13th annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).

His nomination comes as no surprise, as he very skilfully and passionately brought his character, GC to life in SABC 1's soap drama, Uzalo.

The Umlazi-born actor, played the character of a flamboyant beautician on Uzalo. This was his first professional role on television after spending my years in theatre since the age of nine.

He was very popular with his audience on Uzalo and provided exceptional television viewing.

Khaya revealed how humbled he felt about the nomination in an Instagram post three days ago.

His followers on social media were ecstatic about his nomination and have been sharing congratulatory messages, rooting for him for a win.

Although Khaya has left the soapie, Uzalo, his fans are eager to follow him wherever he may go. We keeping a close eye on this actor.

Three months ago, reported that Mzansi will be shocked to know that Khaya Dladla’s role as GC was never meant to be a long-running character.

Viewers had developed a special place in their heart for Khaya’s character and the show just wouldn’t be the same without his unique use of the English language and vivacious personality.

Khaya revealed that the writers initially only planned to have him appear in three episodes, but after seeing how much fans loved GC, they decided to keep him around for a bit longer.
