Social media user, Brian De Beer expressed his gratitude and appreciation for a kind petrol attendant, Bongani, who brightened up his day with his positive attitude and friendly banter.
Brian says he met Bongani at the Engen at Malmesbury late one afternoon on his way to Cape Town. He says he was overwhelmed by the man with a lovely personality who immediately greeted him and shook his hand, Briefly.co.za learned.
In addition to his regular duties, Bongani then offered to collect and throw away any trash that Brian had in his car. He also pointed him in the direction of the store to buy snacks and refreshments for the long journey ahead.
Brian says Bongani immediately lifted his spirits. He adds that Bongani urged to be safe on the roads, saying, “please sir, don't drive too fast".
Brian shared his lovely encounter with South Africans on social media.
“After asking him when can I or someone else come visit him, he said he will be there Friday night and Sunday afternoon,” Brian wrote.
Social media user, Marshall Johnson added that he had a similar experience meeting Bongani, who has earned a reputation for being a beacon of light on a long drive.
"Eish.. I got that similar treatment from him, Brian, and of course a generous 'tip' accompanied his service. Eish so proud to have met Bongani," wrote Marshall.
