Moshidi Motshegwa, who plays as Malefu on the very popular TV series The River, confirmed that she's leaving the soapie. She says she was told that there is no story for her character, and now she's walking away.
Moshidi Motshegwa is possibly one of the most popular actresses that Mzansi has, and her character in The River, Malefu, had fans of the show glued to their screens.
But despite this, the show's producers had nowhere to go with the Malefu's story, and now Moshidi will no longer be seen on our screens. At least not as part of The River.
The gorgeous actress doesn't regret the work she has done on the show and feels she did her best.
It comes as a surprise that Malefu won't be seen anymore because her character was a very relatable woman. As reported on by TimesLIVE, Mzansi felt they could relate to Malefu as she is so devoted to her family.
The show has now entered its 2nd season, but Moshidi won't be part of it. She told Azania Mosaka of 702 that she left the production set after being informed there is no more story for her.
They said they don't have a story for Malefu. It's as simple as that. That is what the producers have said. I am repeating what the producers said... I just left. I finished my job on that day and they told me they don't have a story.
Briefly.co.za gathered that she does not feel bad though.
For me, the most important thing is that I came back, I did the work and I did it at the level I wanted. I have no regrets about the work I have done.
Moshidi certainly did her best, and it showed. She was nominated for Best Actress at the SAFTAS.
