Energy expert Ted Blom is convinced Eskom is lying to South Africa

Energy analyst Ted Blom is convinced that the power entity is lying to South Africa. With Stage 4 load shedding being introduced yesterday after 7 power units were 'lost', this is the last thing the nation wants to hear.

Ted Blom, energy expert, is adamant that Eskom has been blatantly lying to the public about the true scale of its issues.

Speaking to eNCA recently Blom explained that he had been shocked at the minimal information Eskom is revealing:

“Eskom has been lying to us as to where the source of the problem was. I’m shocked that under the new board Eskom has chosen to hide these things from us…. And share the real effect of the situation”

When asked what he felt was the biggest lie told by the power entity, Blom responded by saying:

" My big problem is that Eskom has been lying to us as to where the source of the problem lies. They have told us consistently that the problem was with the old generating fleet. It has now transpired, at the NERSA hearing, that indeed the problem isn't limited to the old generation fleet but has also extended to the new build."

However, as the expert explains the newest plants have been unable to meet expectations either:

" Medupi can't get above 60% availability and Kusile is hovering above 20% which is criminal. I am shocked that under the new board Eskom has chosen to hide these facts from us."

Briefly.co.za reported earlier that Minister Pravin Gordhan had responded to the announcement by holding an emergancy meeting at Eskom, where plans to conduct a nationwide systems audit, among other things, had been put into play.
