AKA has been a hot topic on social media after his humanitarian gesture of donating R100k to Wits students. The rapper went even further by supplying hundreds of McDonalds meals.
He took to social media to explain that he felt he had to do something because it's normal people who support them as artists - its only right they do the same.
Yesterday, the rapper posted pictures of handing out food on the campus. Briefly.co.za learnt that his motivation was the need to be a man of substance.
"The goal in life is to be a person of substance. Take away the cars, the face beat, the hair, the outfits, the constant Instagram posting ..."
He then added that he hoped his industry peers would also help others, since the government was never going to give all the solutions.
"I think we need to recognize that the government or the institutions will not have all the answers and that it’s up to us to help each other... especially people in positions like mine.”
He said he was helping out of his personal capacity and not under any political party.
