A passionate lady in Tarlton has gone the extra mile to help families take the best possible care of the children, by opening up a creche in the community. The creche is run out of an old barn and is under-resourced despite the hard working woman’s efforts.
Although they have been donated a few cots, the creche does not yet have mattresses so the kids have to sleep on the floor. They also don’t have blankets or toys.
Determined to ensure that the kids have a productive day at the creche, they have managed to aquire some crayons and old colouring books but not much other learning materials.
The caregiver has tried to make posters with brightly-coloured pens and puts in a great deal of effort to keep the kids happy.
They have a gas stove which is used to cook for the kids ensuring they at least have filling meals.
Hoping to assist the caregiver and the little children who attend her creche, The Cradle of Hope has called on social media users anything that may be usefull, from beds and bedding, to food supplies and toys.
South Africans on social media have rallied together to show support for the kind lady and he project trying to help the kids out.
Facebook user, Nicola Nicholenas Dias, said she was a teacher and would be happy to assist./ She said she’d like to set up visual aids to help the kids learn, as well as blankets.
“My colleague and I can also come through for a few hours on a Saturday to give her training so that she is better equipped,” she writes.
Werner van Deventer said he and his wife made some materials for the kids and offered to drop it off at the school. “Me and my wife made lots of activities and decorations for the class with rhymes and songs as well. Together we can make these children learn and be happy.”
