As she prepares for her third concert tour of SA, Canadian singer, Tamia, reminisces about how much she loves Mzansi. The star will kick off her Passion Like Fire concert tour in Pretoria tonight, then Cape Town tomorrow and Durban on Sunday.
According to Sunday World, Tamia arrived with her team on Wednesday and promises to take concert goers on a trip down memory lane.
She kicks off her tour at the Sun Arena in Pretoria tonight, then head down to A Track in Green Point, Cape Town tomorrow and ends her tour at the Durban Botanical Gardens on Sunday.
The So Into You hitmaker said she has been here for a day so far and already feels so amazing here in Mzansi. She told the Sowetan yesterday that it's always great seeing these faces again and the excitement of preparing for another show.
"I love the people here because they are so loving. As an artist, you want to go where the love is," she said.
She said she definitely feels the love here because people actually listened to all her albums and they knew songs that weren't singles.
The last time Tamia visited SA, she was with her basketball legend husband, Grant Hill. They have been married for almost 20 years. They visited many tourism key points, including Table Mountain and the Nelson Mandela Museum in Mthatha.
She recalled how 15 000 people sang happy birthday to her husband during a concert the last time they visited SA. She said it was amazing for him and he will never forget that.
She also said she loved the restaurants in Johannesburg and she is a sucker for food, with her favourite food being any stew.
The 43-year0old singer is here to promote her seventh studio album, Passion Like Fire. She said she gave it that title because of her passion for music. She described the album as fun and grown.
"The thing that I'm still proud of in my career is that I'm still able to do what I love, which is perform, and continue to do the music that I love."
Tamia will perform to thousands of fans around the country, supported by a top local line-up. Newcomer Wandile Mbambeni will start off her career with a band as the opening act for Tamia. Lady Zamar and Idols winner, Paxton Fielies will also serve as supporting acts at the concert.
Six days ago, Briefly.co.za reported what an honour it was for 18-year-old, Paxton Fielies when she found out she was chosen to perform as the opening act for Tamia's concert in Green Point, Cape Town. She said she was star struck when she found out, as she had already bought a ticket to Tamia's concert.
Tickets for the show range from R495 to R895, and is available through Webtickets or Pick n Pay stores.
