After being kidnapped by two strangers, Jacques Nel was able to escape and a taxi driver quickly came to his rescue, making sure he gets back to his family safely and unharmed. Not all heroes wear capes.
A Grade 6 student at Naudeville Primary in Welkom, Jacques Nel, went jogging one afternoon in his neighbourhood of Bedelia.
The driver and passenger of a black Kia promptly grabbed him and threw him in the car. The kidnappers blindfolded Jacques and taped his mouth shut, according to a post shared on social media.
He was also hit against the head, but he sustained no serious injuries during the incident. Fortunately, the youngster managed to wriggle himself loose and kick the car door open when they entered an industrial area.
It's then that taxi driver Johannes Leboleneng came to Jacques rescue.
Johannes quickly helped Jacques call his grandmother and took him to a Sasol petrol station where his grandfather would pick him up.
If it wasn't for the taxi driver taking Jacques into his care, he may not have successfully escaped his would-be kidnappers.
Jacques filled in a statement at the police station and won't jog on his own ever again.
South Africans were deeply impressed with Johannes' caring help that he gave to a young boy in need and applauded him on social media.
Suzete Pereira - Well done Johannes! You are a star! Thank you for helping Jacques get back to his family!
Bev Sangerhaus Botha - What an awesome guy you are. Thank You for saving this young chap.
Charmaine Strauss - Johannes thank you for helping this young man. May the angels of God always look after you and those you love. What an act of kindness.
Mari De Bruin - This is so sad, what is gonna happen to our country? Thank you Johannes for being the man. A huge thank you to God for keeping this boy safe and sending an angel his way.
