South Africa mourns the loss of veteran jazz musician Dorothy Masuka

Mzansi is saddened by the news of the death of veteran jazz muso Dorothy Masuka. She was in the music biz for more than 40 years and is admired for putting Africa's music on the international stage.

At the ripe age of 83, jazz musician Dorothy Masuka has passed away. Her family confirmed the sad news.

She was suffering from complications that were related to hypertension after she had a mild stroke in 2018.

According to the family's spokesperson, Fortune Hute, Dorothy was in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her family.

Many South Africans greatly admire Dorothy for her contribution towards music as she was in the business for more than 40 years.

TimesLIVE reported that one of her last on-stage performances was at late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's funeral in 2018.
