Fed-up traffic cop has law-breaking taxi driver doing pushups

South Africans could hardly contain their laughter when a video was shared online which showed a taxi driver doing pushups after he was pulled over by a traffic officer.

A video was posted on social media on Sunday which showed a traffic cop forcing a taxi driver to drop and give him 20.

The video was shared on South Africa Live's Facebook page and it was revealed the incident took place in Bloemfontein.

"'I make offenders do 20 at a time' - Fed up Bloemfontein traffic cop forces Taxi drivers to do pushups for breaking traffic laws," the footage was captioned.

Briefly.co.za gathered the footage soon went viral, reaching over 51 000 views in less than a day.

South Africans found the footage hilarious and some even suggested it was a good idea.

Eleanor Radebe commented: "For sure taxi drivers in that area look like Mr Muscle."
Tina-Marie Trevenen wrote: "Fines are not paid, courts are so incompetent that they are not enforced... If a little on the spot harmless punishment works... At least he is thinking out of the box."
Paulette Sidi added: "Ohh hey.. this is a great idea..they say that excersise releives stress and anxiety..maybe a good dose of excersise can help in eliminating road rage and careless driving habits.well done..i love this..i wish i can see this happening to all the taxi drivers in Sandton."
