Barcelona star Lionel Messi has taken time to celebrate his son, Ciro, on his first year despite his preparations for his side's El Clasico clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.

The Argentine star posted a picture of the celebrant on his official Instagram page saying "Happy birthday! We love you".

Messi, his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, with Thiago and Mateo were all standing in front of two beautiful cakes but the celebrant was said to be sleepy.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old will be hoping to inspire his side to victory when they battle Los Blancos in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey semifinal clash.

The Barca star bagged his 50th hatrick in his side's 4-2 dramatic win over Sevilla in their weekend's La Liga encounter.

Both sides played 1-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this month at Camp Nou and the result of tonight's victory will determine which team progress to the final.

Lucas Vazquez put Real ahead in the sixth minute but Barcelona equalised through Malcom in the 57th minute.

Meanwhile, the two sides will regroup this weekend for the second leg of their La Liga clash, after the first leg ended 5-1 in favour of the Catalans in October.

Messi has scored 33 goals and 18 assists in all competitions so far this campaign, while his goal tally against the Galacticos stands at 26 goals in 37 appearances.

In the first leg, the forward came in as substitute, but is in line to start on Wednesday and will be full of confidence.

To reach this stage of the Copa del Rey, Barcelona have overcome Cultural Leonesa, Levante and Sevilla.
