Willies Mchunu, the KZN Premier, has collapsed during his State of the Province Address. The Premier had asked the speaker to allow for someone to continue on his behalf, before fainting on stage.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu, 70, has collapsed while delivering his State of the Province Address.
While explaining the progress made in infrastructure development, he had paused and requested that Sihle Zikalala should take over for him:
“Madam Speaker, may I pause here to request the leader of government business to continue on my behalf, I have a challenge.”
Briefly.co.za gathers that, seconds after this, the Premier had lost his balance and collapsed, with officials rushing to his aid.
According to Eyewitness News, within moments of his collapse, Mchunu had been helped by paramedics. Shocked attendants had begun praying for Mchunu.
The KZN official has been unwell for months now, Zikalala has been stepping in during numerous state events.
