There's a huge possibility that Mzansi rapper Boity might face serious legal issues after a UK rapper slammed her, on social media claiming that Boity stole her song, Bakae.
SA Hip Hop Mag reported that the All4Women publication said the UK rapper whose name is Karen Francis claims that Boity's single came from a song she released last year called, Cake.
Karen claimed that she listened to Bakae and she was in a complete state of shock because she immediatley recognised so many elements of her song in it.
She took to social media and posted a pic of her cover and the Bakae single cover with a long explanation of how she knows she was copied. Here is the post on her Instagram account.
Karen told the All4Women publication that she recognised her signature and structure on Boity's verses. She said as a singer and songwriter, she can write a song within minutes but she took time to really structure her song, Cake, because to wanted to place her signature on it so show people who are not aquintated with it.
Karen is determined to get to the bottom of this and has passed the matter on to a legal team now. The Botswana born artist said she also lived in South African for a while.
She claims she has chosen a lawyer who has done her work thoroughly. Karen said she knows the song Bakae was written by Boity and Moeketsi and was published through Universal. But she can prove that her song was published in 2018 in Botswana and South Africa and her promowas played more than 60 000 times.
"“We are now awaiting results from forensic analysts who will be able to prove that Bakae manipulated Cake and that my sound and authenticity were stolen. Now it’s about finding out who is responsible and make sure they are held accountable. I’ve just finalised my own record deal and I’ve got the funds to fight this,” said Karen.
Eish this UK rapper sure isn't playing games and is ready to pounce on Boity for what belongs to her.
Unfortunately Boity hasn't commented on the matter but we know that her single, Bakae has performed exceptionally well since it's release two weeks ago, that it has even hit the number 1 spot on iTunes.
Just over two weeks ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Boity said she was inspired by late rapper HHP for her new single, Bakae.
Boity released her first single late last year which was a huge success. We guess the TV star found a new calling in music, even though she has been rather quiet about it. She posted the cover of her new single on Instagram just over two weeks ago and said:
"The long wait is over. I'm finally dropping my second official single titled #BAKAE, produced by @therealganjabeatz this Friday".
