- Aidan van Niekerk drew up the petition to sell Northern Cape to Namibia, which he hopes to present to Parliament
- The controversial proposal is meant to raise R420 billion in capital to settle Eskom’s debt
- South Africans were shocked to hear of the idea and many have slammed van Niekerk
Briefly.co.za previously reported on the petition to make Northern Cape part of Namibia.
Aidan van Niekerk came up with the idea and valuation of R420 billion after crunching the numbers.
According to him, the sale of the province was a viable idea as not many people care about it and that it only contributes 2% of South Africa’s GDP.
South Africans have now had their say and many have lambasted the Capetonian.
Michael van Zyl pulled no punches: “Is this thing on drugs this our country and heritage ...not for sale at any price.”
Ranther Clement Mokwetli cautioned: “That won't be solutions. Otherwise we will end up selling the whole country because of the failure of ANC.”
Obakeng Blessed Serumula said, “That boy must not undermine the people of the NORTHERN CAPE.”
Zia Faniso sided with van Niekerk’s view as he said, “You'll be proud in Namibia too. Don't be selfish, allow us to sell you and live happily ever after.”
Naeson Da Carlton Kgaphola said, “This is a petition laying around from Zuma to the Guptas selling South Africa estimated at $500 Billion. I’m glad I’m not South African.”
