Hardworking man hired as cleaner now excels as head chef

Restaurant owner, Yaron Wiesenbacher, shared a heartwarming story about a hardworking man with an incredible attitude. Months after hiring Desire as a cleaner and runner, Yaron saw incredible potential in him. Now, Desire runs Yaron’s kitchen, excelling even though he did not have experience or qualifications as a chef.

Yaron says that months ago, Desire, a fellow Zimbabwean, walked into his restaurant looking for a job. Needing a runner and a cleaner, Yaron hired him and has not looked back since, Briefly.co.za found.

Proud of the journey he and Desire have taken together, Yaron took to social media to gush about an employee with a special place in his heart.

Desire had a upbeat attitude and was always ready to go above and beyond the call of duty. Yaron was impressed with how easily he learnt new skills and how dedicated he was to expanding his responsibilities.

He says Desire has an eagerness and a thirst for knowledge and could fix almost anything that needed fixing.

“He has saved me thousands by being able to fix appliances that break. And even if I know that he can't fix it, it never ever stops him from trying.It's an incredible attitude,” wrote Yaron.

When Yaron’s chef had to leave, Yaron didn’t even think about hiring a new chef, but asked Desire to take over. Desire rose to the occasion and immediately excelled, performing tasks even better than the previous qualified chef.

“Without any formal training, without any training in a restaurant before working here. It's just been an incredible thing to witness and I couldn't be happier about it,” says Yaron.
