- Fikile Mbalula lashed out at Lekota on Twitter
- He mocked the COPE leader from crying in a video that surfaced online
- Mbalula slammed Lekota for accusing Cyril Ramaphosa of being a sellout
ANC head of elections Fikile Mbalula has told Mosiuoa Lekota to get counselling after a video surfaced of the COPE leader crying.
In the clip, Lekota speaks about the challenges faced while negotiating the end of apartheid and the transition to democracy.
Lekota also slams expropriation without compensation in the video and defends the right of South Africans to own land.
He also expresses disappointment that the ANC decided to pursue expropriation without comepnsation as an official policy.
Mbalula threw shade at Lekota over the clip. He feigned sympathy with Lekota, and took shots at him for his allegations that Cyril Ramaphosa betrayed his comrades to the apartheid police.
"I know exactly how it feels, and worse to accuse caders [sic] of being sellouts very bad," Mbalula tweeted.
Ramaphosa denied Lekota's accusations, however.
This is not the first time Mbalula has got into Twitter fights with other political figures. He has also sparred with Supra Mahumapelo and the DA.
He caused a stir when he tweeted that the DA's growth in support in the last few years was purely due to Zuma's unpopularity. Many people were angered by the tweet, which they felt was insulting to Jacob Zuma.
