Parliament joins South Africans in show of support for Caster Semenya

Sports Minister Tokozile Xasa has rallied politicians to stand united behind Caster Semenya. The athlete is locked in a legal battle over regulations imposed by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Tokozile Xasa, Minister of Sport, has called on politicians to unite in supporting Caster Semenya as she challenges regulations proposed by the IAAF.

These regulations seek to make hormone treatment compulsory for women with higher testosterone levels;

Yesterday, Parliament showed the athlete their love with a unified voice, going as far as wearing personalized shirts.

According to Eyewitness News, Xasa had finished off the unusually polite session in the National Assembly by asking Members of Parliament, from all 'walks of life' and support Semenya.

The panel at the Court of Arbitration for Sport is currently deliberating the case and is expected to deliver a verdict before the 26th March.

Briefly.co.za reported earlier that South Africans have taken to social media to show one of Mzansi's favorite athletes their love in her trying time. Semenya may be enduring resistance, but her nation is behind her.
