The Life Esidimeni tragedy left 144 patients dead and more than 100 patients missing. The Gauteng Health Department succeeded in finding some of the missing patients and they will be reunited with their relieved families.
Some of the patients that were missing since the tragic events of Life Esidimeni have been tracked down by the Gauteng Health Department.
A report by eNCA indicated that several of the missing 21 patients were located and will be reunited with their families on Sunday, 3 March.
This came after these patients were illegally moved to unlicensed NGOs back in 2015. It also led to the death of 144 mentally ill patients. More than 100 patients went missing, but they've been found over the years.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the families of the missing patients have been waiting to hear news of them since they went missing.
Now some of them will be able to sleep peacefully knowing their family was found.
Others, however, aren't as lucky. There are still patients missing, as only 5 of the 21 have been found so far.
