A video that shows an older woman getting a large piece of wood (or half a tree!) on her head hit South Africans in the feels and reminded them how strong and underappreciated South African mothers really are.
Many mothers have to go through real struggles to provide for their families. Fetching water from wells and rivers or carrying firewood on their heads are part of the daily routine of many South African women.
When a video was recently shared showing a woman manoeuvring a large amount of wood (or maybe even half a tree) onto her head and walking away with it, it reminded many South Africans of the sacrifices their own mothers and grandmothers made for them.
Briefly.co.za found that social media user @MalumeSharepart shared the short video clip and he pointed out it was part of a documentary.
Here's what South Africans had to say:
@Ribes_L - That is why ge o bethwa motho a mmawee... Mothers are strong
@_phophoh - I couldn't finish watching, i care alot about these queens
@Rhodneymushwana - I'm a student at UL because of a mother like that,She has been always there for me...I felt that,you took me back to the village
@XK16104685 - Our mothers , not these girls of today
@Samora21015296 - Yho no wonder people tend to say there are no longer wife materials in this century.....
@ThomasMoko - Without this toil, there’ll be no food on the table.
@mokone_eddie - Black Queens. Big temperaments, big Love, big patience, big caring, big Forgiving, Big Nurturers, ....izimbokodo. We need to celebrate them
@wasikedan - We are where we are today because of their efforts..the only think I can say is thank you mum
