Andrew Gerbitz met the woman of his dreams, Maddie Ehlers, nearly 10 years ago.
The couple met through the Special Olympics as both are athletes.
Gerbitz and Ehlers share a passion for Zumba as well, and this was the scene of a beautiful marriage proposal.
Special Olympics Wisconsin reported that the couple have been dating for four years.
The actual proposal may have caught many off-guard, but engagement has been on the cards for a while.
Gerbitz felt the venue for their Zumba classes in Wisconsin, USA would make the perfect place for his proposal.
Even though the couple would had wanted an intimate and private setting, TMJ4 radio station were on hand and caught the moment on camera.
They shared their video via Facebook and it has already been viewed in excess of 800,000 times.
Gerbitz kept his proposal short and sweet as he said, “I know I love you very much, but I want you to be in my life. Would you marry me please?”
Both Gerbitz and Ehlers suffer from Down syndrome but are living their lives without restrictions or inhibitions.
