Mampintsha denies stifling Babes Wodumo's career: "I invested in her"

Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo insists that he is not trying to stifle the growth of estranged girlfriend, Babes Wodumo's career. He says that he invested in her and would not prevent her from going further.

Speaking outside the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday, he said:

"I invested in her and groomed her, why would I prevent her from growing?"

Mampintsha “discovered” Babes Wodumo when she was 15 years old. He helped her transition from a relatively unknown model to the famous musician she is today.

Since then, Mampintsha has featured in all of her songs and music videos, a move many have seen as odd. Some social media users have pointed out that Mampintsha’s alleged possessiveness may have started here.

Mampintsha, however, insists that he is not controlling her. He said he invested money into Babes' career.

"How am I trapping Babes when she can leave the house whenever she wants?”

Meanwhile, Simelane's family have gone as far as to claim that he stole money from Babes.

Briefly.co.za reported that Mampintsha was arrested yesterday after being charged for assault against Babes Wodumo. The incident was caught in a video footage that has since gone viral.

He has apologised for hitting her but blames Babes for making him do it. He is due back in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on May 15.
