Milnerton police tell woman that station is "closed on weekends"

- A Cape Town woman says that police told her the station was closed on Saturdays and Sundays when she tried to report a break-in

- Additionally, she claims that they did process her report correctly

- A spokesperson for the police has said that the incident is being investigated

A woman has alleged that police in Milnerton, Cape Town told her that police stations were not open on weekends.

The woman, Deborah Boyes, said she was trying to report a burglar who had broken into her home.

Boyes also claims that police did not process her report properly.

According to Boyes, police failed to take fingerprints and rushed her in the process of filing a report. Also, they told her that the station was closed over the weekend. Boyes said she found the incident highly upsetting.

Boyes's story was met with public outrage. A spokesperson for the police has since said that her complaint is being taken seriously and that the matter is being looked into.
