World’s fastest taxi: Mzansi reacts to video of modified minbus

Social media users were amused by a video of what must be the world’s fastest minibus taxi. A video of the customised taxi was shared on social media, impressing some South Africans and leaving others confused about if such intense modifications were necessary or useful, or just a waste of money.

One Facebook user, Lehlohonolo Matlala, jokingly commented, “Please don’t give that to a zulu taxi driver”, leaving many other users in stitches.

Motor enthusiasts took a more serious approach to the matter and debated whether the mods made on the taxi were worthwhile or not, Briefly.co.za found.

Jason Ryan Geldenhuys wrote that the motor should make 400 kW without turbos and suggested that the owner of the taxi probably neglected to upgrade the brake system or suspension. “At least death will be swift,” he sarcastically commented.

Other users couldn’t care less how the owner chose to use his money but asserted that the taxi better not be used to transport passengers because it would be very dangerous, particularly because taxis are known for their reckless driving.

One user cynically suggested that the owner is likely to use their beefed up ride to commit robberies.
