Manchester United interim boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has now come out to reveal Ajax Amsterdam's historic victory over Real Madrid played a pivotal part in his side's win over PSG at Parc des Princes.

PSG hosted the second leg of the last last 16 fixture of the Champions League with a 2-0 goal advantage and were favourites to seal a place in the quarter finals.

However, Romelu Lukaku's first half brace and Marcus Rashford's injury time penalty were enough to send United to the last eight.

The epic comeback saw the Red Devils become the first side in the history of the competition to progress after losing the first leg at home by two or more goals.

Speaking after the match, Solskjaer divulged Ajax Amsterdam's comeback against Real Madrid dominated his team talk before the Wednesday night, March 6, encounter.

"It’s the Champions League. That’s what it does. Real Madrid and Ajax – that was our team talk," the Norwegian tactician disclosed.
"It was probably theirs [PSG] as well. Last year you had Real Madrid and Juventus that was close, the year before you had Paris against Barca. This is what we do at this club," he added.

Briefly.co.za had previously reported Real Madrid suffered a humiliating 1-4 defeat from Ajax on Tuesday, March 5, in the reverse fixture of Champions League last 16 round.
