Wessels refused, angering Hlonyana and the EFF.
The incident followed the EFF protesting at the University of Free State. Wessels called the EFF 'anarchists' in response to a video of two members littering while a student attempted to set a good example by picking up and throwing the trash away himself.
This took place during the protests against outsourcing employees at the university, Briefly.co.za discovered.
Wessels said there party sought anarchy and violence rather than trying to build a better country. He added that they should not let the 'anarchists' win, reported The Citizen, overlooking the fact that anarchism is a political position entirely distinct from that of the EFF.
