Depressed man turns his life around with support from partner

- A man fell into depression after being in a car accident

- With the support of his partner, he overcame his depression

A young man opened up about how he had nearly given up on his life last year after falling into depression. Omphile Phix shares how he managed to lift himself up out of a dark place with the support of his loving partner.

“2018 was a very dark year for me, but I swallowed the reality pill and put my pride aside and kept going,” he writes.

Omphile took to social media to explain that he had been involved in a car accident which impacted him adversely and almost cleaned him out financially. He said he didn’t want the car initially, which added to his stress, Briefly.co.za discovered.

“[I] only got the car to please my parents...I generally wasn't ready to get it. I didn't even tell them, they just saw a car in the yard,” he explained.

His severe depression caused him to lose weight.

He says he turned his life around with support from his partner and has been accepted to study accounting at the University of Tshwane. He said he would obtain his degree regardless of the cost. He says he was overjoyed when he heard of his acceptance.

Social media users encouraged him to find a way to study, and reminded him that God always has a plan, even tthough he is already R 13 000 in debt.
