Video shows cops shooting young man during chaotic school attack

On Wednesday, a video was widely shared on all social media platforms which showed a police officer gunning down a former learner.

According to The South African, the video was filmed at Mamehlake High School in Kwamhlanga, Mpumalanga.

TimesLIVE added that the young man was a disgruntled ex-student at the high school and he wanted to confront the principal.

However, the school's headmaster failed to meet with him and it sent the former learner on a one-man rampage.

Students filmed the young man destroying school property and throwing bricks through windows. The police arrived on the scene, but before they could do anything, the young man turned his fury on them.

The unidentified youth threw bricks at the police van, breaking the passenger side window. The cops retreated, but the young man ran after them, continuing to hurl bricks at the van.

At one point, one of the officers fell out of the van and the driving cop stopped to help his partner. The young man then approached them, throwing another brick. gathered that the cop pulled out his firearm and discharged three shots at the violent young man. The footage showed the former learner falling to the ground as more cops approached the scene.

Moments later, another cop is seen kicking the young man - one kick to the body and another to the head.

The footage sparked quite the reaction from social media users, who felt the cops did what they had to do to disarm the young man and protect themselves.

Social media user, @Psychomalope, commented: "My heart goes out to the police officer who fell off the vehicle. These officers restored the dignity of government institutions. Thank u SAPS!!"
Another tweep, @Just_Ike1606, added: "No respect for the police and on top of that trying to kill the police officer? He had no choice but to put them down."
