,Founders of Eureka, a whites-only settlement in the Northern Cape, describe the community as a safe haven. The aim of the movement is to prevent what members claim is the uprooting of white people.
Eureka is an enclave that has taken form outside of Garies, a small town on the N7 in the Northern Cape.
Briefly.co.za reported that the settlement is a whites-only community and, naturally, social media has been abuzz with the news.
Organisers are now defending their actions, saying that the movement is an attempt to stop what they believe is the uprooting of white people.
Adriaan Nieuwoudt, founder of the settlement, says he established Eureka in an effort to avoid the white race from going extinct.
Nieuwoudt has gone as far as making one-hectare plots available for those who wish to live away from the rest of the country.
The founder claims nation building had started out as a good thing but is now coming at the expense of white citizens:
"If we look at all the political incitement for political gain against the white race on a daily basis, who can guarantee that this type of genocide that is busy playing out will not get out of hand?"
Division is not Nieuwoudt's aim, according to Eyewitness News, he says he is simply trying to offer an alternative.
