A branding expert has said that if Twitter followers were votes, Julius Malema would be president.
Speaking to The Money Show, expert Andy Rice said that the EFF' Twitter support was much larger than any other party's.
Rice added that the EFF had a strong and memorable brand, and that the party used Malema's large-than-life personality to draw attention and support.
Rice also said that the party was skilled at making promises which resonated with many South Africans, even if they were not actually achievable, according to Eyewitness News.
He was ostensibly referring to the EFF's election manifesto, which includes some radical proposals, like the nationalisation of all land.
Rice also said the EFF's slogan was simple and effective. The party's catchprase is "Our land and jobs now", which speaks to both the issues of land reform and unemployment that many citizens care about.
