DJ Tira says Mampintsha deserves "whatever punishment is due"

DJ Tira has opened up about his thoughts on the Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha saga. Many have accused him of being an enabler and staying silent about the abuse, but the DJ has come out to dispel the rumours.

He told Drum magazine that the pair have always had a rocky relationship. He went on to say that he did try to guide them, but things only got worse.

"They love each other but unfortunately love is not enough for her and anyone else to stay in an abusive relationship."

Tira added that even though Mampintsha is his friend, he deserves to suffer the consequences.

"What he did wasn't right, and he needs to get whatever punishment is due to him."

Tira released a statement last week after receiving backlash for his silence when the footage of Mampintsha abusing Babes went viral.

Mampintsha has since been arrested and released on bail. Briefly.co.za reported that he has laid a counter-charge of assault against Babes Wodumo, claiming that he was acting in self-defence.
