Man inspires with photos of dream home that he built for R175k

Words could not adequately explain one man’s happiness at finally being done building his dream home. TeeJay Mapaila took to Twitter to express his excitement that after some time, he finally completed his new home, filling his heart with joy.

Mapaila said it cost around R175k to build his home and he ended up with exactly what he wanted. He added that he drew the plans for the house himself.

He says it was a long-term project and took about four years to organise and save up, but the building itself took just five months to complete.

South Africans on social media were extremely proud of Mapaila’s achievements and congratulated him on his hard work and success, Briefly.co.za discovered.

Many felt he was an inspiration and seeing photos of his new home motivated them to continue with their own projects. More users shared their own photos of homes they built for themselves and their families and encouraged others to take initiative and do the same.

The thread soon became an uplifting platform for people in different stages of the process, from planning and saving to just starting out, to share their experiences and get advice from others who have been where they are now.

Encouraging others who were just starting out, Mapaila wrote, ”The biggest thing is that you started, keep going you will get there soon.”
