Social media users were up in arms recently following the release of a video which shows how a DA member is confronted for removing posters from a set of traffic lights.
The videographer can be heard taking the DA member to task for what he deems to be the illegal removal of ‘black business posters’.
The man reacts by saying that it shouldn’t be politicise
However, the videographer refuses to back off and demands answers.
He asks why the DA member hadn’t removed a Harcourts poster and if it is due to it being a white-owned organisation.
Twitter user, Man’s Not Barry Roux (@AdvBarryRoux), shared the video along with the caption: “Wake up Black Child,” which quickly went viral as it attracted hundreds of comments.
Briefly.co.za noted how the video polarised opinions as many initially slammed the DA member for his actions.
However, he received support in some quarters as some tweeps pointed out that he acted within his rights.
The debate quickly turned political as many displayed their disdain for certain political parties.
Twitter user, @iSRVSA, explained that the removal of posters is not racially motivated.
