Danny K is still being overwhelmed by the responses to his tweet about white people acknowledging their privilege. The singer ended up in a war of words with Western Cape Premier Helen Zille and several others on social media.
Danny K ignited debate when he said, "Not enough white people call out racism when it rears it ugly head." The singer did not think his comments were controversial in any way, but many social media users begged to differ.
Briefly.co.za reported that Helen Zille commented on his post by first slamming his spelling before sharing her thoughts.
The singer maintains that his comments were merely to start a conversation to improve race relations.
"I am truly shocked that a simple call to action to stand up against racism or own one's privilege, could in any way be considered as revolutionary or controversial."
Social media users are divided with some taking Danny K's side and others viciously attacking him.
