A car guard was voted the hero of the year by a community in Cape Town and was treated to a very prestigious experience.
Seraphin Nguie works as a car guard at the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Cape Town.
In July 2018, he helped to keep people safe during an armed robbery at the centre.
He was voted the hero of the month by the community for his efforts.
The Lakeside community votes for the hero of the year annually and the winner gets a special prize.
After winning the award for the month of July, the members selected Nguie as the annual winner as well.
He was awarded a 1-night stay at the prestigious Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town.
Perched in the plush suburb of Camps Bay, the hotel caters for the rich and famous.
Nguie had never been in a hotel before so was thrilled to experience such luxurious accommodation.
He thanked the community for the generous prize and was overcome with joy.
He said, “Thank for everyone, for everything you’ve done for me. The luxury I cannot afford, is something i will always remember but the most of all is your sense of humanity.”
