Samora Mangesi, an SABC TV and radio presenter, claims he was the victim of a racial attack after he and his friends pulled over to offer help to a group of men whose car had apparently broken down.
SABC presenter, Samora Mangesi, says he wanted to help a group of people who were apparently stranded by the side of the road but became the victim of a brutal racial attack instead.
Samora and his friends pulled over to offer a helping hand, and in return allegedly got called 'monkeys'.
The reporter claims that he was then beaten by the group of men until he lost consciousness.
He shared his story and photos of his wounds on social media.
"On Friday night I was the victim of a racially-motivated attack. After stopping to check on a group of young white people whose car had overturned, they called my friends & I ‘monkeys’.
"When we engaged them on why we were being called such, they beat me up until I was unconscious."
TimesLIVE reported that Samora was allegedly punched and kicked and knocked unconscious. The young man suffered cuts and bruises to his face and the left side of his body.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the incident allegedly escalated to more attempts at violence even after an ambulance arrived at the scene.
"Even whilst I was being put in the ambulance, one of these guys tried to run my friend over with his bakkie and the paramedics had to intervene."
