British superstar, Daniel Radcliffe, swapped his wand and glasses for handcuffs and a beard in a new film based on a daring Pretoria prison break by a political prisoner. The film is called Escape from Pretoria and is based on a book.
Since he finished working on Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has tried to take on roles that aren't stereotypical, and his latest is definitely a surprising choice.
In an upcoming film, Escape from Pretoria, Daniel plays the role of Tim Jenkin, a South African activist who was imprisoned for supporting the ANC and other banned organisations.
Jenkin was sentenced to 12 years in Pretoria Central Prison in the 1970s but pulled off a daring escape with two fellow inmates.
Daniel was photographed while filming part of the movie and it caused quite a stir on social media.
Briefly.co.za learned that the film is based on the book Inside Out: Escape from Pretoria Prison by Tim Jenkin.
A report by IOL News indicates that the movie is filmed in Australia because there were administrative problems when trying to film in South Africa.
