On Friday, Finance Minister Tito Mboweni infuriated South Africans with a tweet he made about the retrenched Standard Bank employees.
So far, Tito Mboweni's time in office has had its ups and downs. However, he lost a couple of supporters on 15 March when he told retrenched Standard Bank employees to look on the bright side and start farming.
"On a positive note, retrenched staff should think about this. Just a thought. Breakfast everyday: eggs, bacon, baked beans, bread!! Business opportunities: LET US GO FARMING!!" he wrote on Twitter.
Briefly.co.za gathered Mboweni has since deleted the tweet, but not before social media users could take a screenshot of it.
Tumi Sole was one of many who shared a screenshot of the minister's tweet online.
"The Minister of Finance Ladies & Gents!" Sole captioned the post.
Social media users were not impressed with the Finance Minister and they ended up roasting him online.
Vusi Sambo, who goes by the Twitter handle @VusiSambo, commented: "The good Minister has clearly never faced being unemployed in his lavish struggle life. Thus he finds poking fun at us cute. Cringeworthy and in bad taste."
Social media user, @pozcandy, added: "We are retrenching you in May. Hold that thought uncle."

However, there were those who defended Mboweni, adding he at least gave a suggestion.
