President Cyril Ramaphosa enthused about the warm welcome he received from ANC supporters in Soweto and shared photos of the joyous occasion on social media.
Ramaphosa, who was born in Soweto, wrote that returning to the historic township was always a wonderful experience and was proud about how many South Africans gathered to show their support for the party.
He added that the confidence the people have shown in the ANC was rewarding and reaffirmed that the party was still the people’s movement.

“Every corner we have gone to, our people are continuing to reaffirm their unwavering love and support for the people’s movement, the African National Congress.”
Many South Africans on social media added to Ramaphosa’s excitement, expressing their commitment to the party and thanking Ramaphosa for his efforts to turn the state of the country around, Briefly.co.za found.
Other users were a bit more sceptical and questioned why so many people were gathered on the streets instead of being at their jobs.
Many Twitter users also took the opportunity to point out Eskom and other state-owned enterprises’ failures during the ANC reign.
