For South Africans that had plans for this weekend may have to reschedule and pull out the braai. Eskom has announced that loadshedding will continue through the weekend and may even last until the middle of next week.
Stage 2 loadshedding is planned for the 16th and 17th of March, and perhaps even later. Eskom has announced that power cuts are scheduled for the whole weekend.
This is because of a shortage of generation capacity thanks to plant breakdowns, as reported on by eNCA.
Eskom will continue to implement Stage 2 load shedding until Sunday, 17 March 2019, as a result of a shortage of generation capacity due to plant breakdowns and the need to manage our diesel and water resources.
Briefly.co.za learnt that the power utility insists that the management of water and diesel resources are vital to reducing loadshedding in the coming week.
However, for now, chances are high that loadshedding will continue well into next week, at least until Wednesday (20 march).
The power utility says the outages will allow technicians to do important maintenance.
