- DA MP, Dianne Kohler Barnard, will be appearing before the Equality Court for making racist comments in a strategy meeting
- Kohler Barnard allegedly made a remark saying that black youths were targeting white South Africans
- This is not the first time that Kohler Barnard has been embroiled in a scandal of this nature and the incident may have severe consequences
Louw Nel, DA parliamentary operations director, is taking party MP, Dianne Kohler Barnard, to the Equality Court for making racist remarks.
Kohler Barnard allegedly made comments that suggested black people were out to get white South Africans.
According to TimesLIVE, Nel took the matter into his own hands as he was not happy with the way that chief whip, John Steenhuisen, had addressed the matter.
Kohler Barnard has a reputation for becoming caught up in parliamentary race and sex scandals.
The Citizen reported that Kohler Barnard has been accused of racism prior to this incident, with an accusation in 2015 resulting in her being expelled from the DA.
Kohler Barnard was reinstated as a member of the party on the condition that no similar offences were made in the future.
Now that the DA MP has been accused of racism once more, it is likely that there will be serious consequences.
Briefly.co.za gleaned that many are unhappy that Kohler Barnard is high up on the list of people that the DA would like to have in an influential position in parliament.
