Video of woman expressing anger at ANC sparks debate on social media

It’s a new age for South African voters, who now feel as though as the African National Congress’s stature as the ‘people’s party’, leading the way to liberation, has passed. Many potential voters have expressed their desire to vote according to parties’ manifestos and not necessary their legacy and involvement in the apartheid system.

This is particularly true for one South African woman who voiced her opinion in a video which was shared on social media. In the video, the woman expresses her issues with the ruling party and their various failures.

She expresses her disappointment with the state of her community and lack of housing as a result of the ANC’s poor governance. She says it is not a provincial issue but a personal one.

She added that she and her uncle had been active in the ANC in 2010. She said the party has been tainted by greed, and suggests that South African politicians need to understand that greed and corruption cannot be rewarded, gathered.

Social media users shared their views on the matter. While most users agreed with the woman’s sentiment, many disagreed, with some South Africans of the opinion that there is a mainstream party in South Africa with a better manifesto and vision for the country than the ANC, claiming that the ANC is simply the 'lesser evil' among the various parties.

Nevertheless, Twitter users were more concerned with the arrogance shown by the ANC campaigner who tried to cut the woman off, refusing to let her speak her mind freely.
